I never spent over $400 for a PC.

I have 8 at home. 2 HTPC and 2 private servers for games that I play with family and friends. I also play the latest games at max settings.

I do a lot of leg work to get my stuff on the cheap though. Coupons, rebates, cash back programs, computer shows and bank reward programs. I also build my own. I never go pre-built.

You want to build your own or go pre-built?

Is this going to be your main PC gaming rig or HTPC?

This is my most recently built rig.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X3 720
MB: MSI DKA790GX
RAM: Kingston HyperX 4GB
Video card: HIS Radeon 4870 512MB
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar 500 Black x 4
PSU: Rosewill RP550V2-S-SL
Case: Antec Skeleton PC Case
OS: Windows XP Professional SP 3 (Gamer Edits) and Ubuntu 9.10 (Gamer Edits)

NO DVD Drive, NO CD-ROM - I do everything via USB or download.

Total cost after rebates and coupons: $188.93

My living room has a HTPC connected to a Samsung SP-H800 projector with over 20k+ games (last count) - Most all split-screen and co-op games for family and friends to enjoy using 2-4 wireless gamepads.
