Default How to keep your "Recent Documents" folder clear in Windows XP or Vista

perfect for hiding the porn you try to keep away from your mom or girlfriend.

DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH EDITING THE REGISTRY OF YOUR COMPUTER, YOU CAN REALLY BREAK SOMETHING IF YOU SCREW IT UP!

1. Click Start
2. Click "Run"
3. Type in "Regedit"
4. Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER >>> SOFTWARE >>>MICROSOFT >>>WINDOWS>>>CurrentVersion>>>Policies>>>Explorer

When in the Explorer window right click and create a new "DWORD Value" and name it "NoRecentDocsHistory"

after that is done, right click "NoRecentDocsHistory" and click "MODIFY" and set the "Value Data" to 1

click ok and restart.

No more "Recent Documents"

Or you can just right click the taskbar and customize your start menu and remove "Recent Documents". Atleast that's how I do it

it will still sneak in there.

type "recent files" and let me know if it still shows up, you are just getting rid of the shortcut.

lol, no one in my house will even bother, let alone know of that run command lol. So lets just keep it between us, kk? As long as its entrance is hidden, no one will try to get it :P

You can also right click on "Recent Items" on the start menu and click "Clear Recent Items" to delete them. That just empties the folder in which shortcuts to recent stuff are saved.

That last word, "it." in my post should say "in." Couldn't edit since other people posted.
