Default DLC vs. Patch

Is it me or the "DLC" is the same thing as a patch.

For example, in battlefield 2 there were patches that give us new maps, and now we need to pay more new maps.

a patch is generally released to fix bugs, DLC is extra content such as options or maps.

Well a DLC is pretty much an expansion, in some ways, it includes more things

(Expansion is usually a new game that costs retail price)

Patch, well the name derives from what it is, it's to patch up the technical holes that the game / program had

WoW Uses Patch as a mix between DLC / Patch except they're required for all, where expansions are not

Majority of the time DLC will cost money, because of the cost it needs to create the new things... (WoW's Monthly Renewal fee covers this price, same with most Pay To Play games)

I would go for (free) DLC as well since that is more content then just a patch, which most of the times doesn't deliver content at all.

Patches are use to balance the game and fix bugs. They don't usually add any extra content, but Patches are free. DLC adds more contents, levels, and modes to the game. Some DLC are free, while others aren't.
