Default EA Giving Medal of Honor a Modern Day Reboot

It's becoming the norm for former-WWII franchises to make the jump to modern day settings. First with Battlefield, then Call of Duty. And despite EA already controlling the Battlefield franchise, they will be reviving Medal of Honor and giving it the good ole' modern treatment.

I'm a little skeptical of this reboot. On the one hand, Medal of Honor was the first FPS I ever played. On the other hand, EA knows Call of Duty is the undisputed champion of modern war games. I guess that won't stop them from trying to turn a profit from an established franchise.

The game's story is supposedly inspired by real events and will take place in Afghanistan. And unlike your grunt status in Call of Duty, the new Medal of Honor will once again put you in the eyes of a special operative whose job is to perform missions the average soldier can't handle.

According to EA, the game's single-player campaign is being built with quality in mind with EA DICE taking the reigns on the title's multiplayer. It'll be out sometime in 2010 on the usual FPS platforms (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC), but will be revealed at Spike's Video Game Awards on the 12th. I may actually tune in to that now.

Hmm, finally a new medal of honor game. I did play the first Medal of Honor on my PS1 and it was pretty fun. Also have the Allied Assault game for the pc.

Sounds fun. Nice to see how well it does against BF and COD.

Seeing how Battlefield Bad Company 2 is going to come out soon, it may be a bit rough on the sales of Medal of Honor, especially since Battlefield is also owned by EA. It is clearly a lash back to Modern Warfare. Although it may turn out to be an interesting game, I have a huge feeling it will not receive the publicity it should or will, like lots of EA games lol.

I remember when they announced COD 4 was going to be in modern warfare and people were raging and said how much it was going to suck. How wrong they were
