One of my friends said Nintendo wants to bring back their domination on the 'headache-machine' market. As far as technology, 3D screen technology(ie without the glasses) has been around, and it won't be super thick either. The only problem that keeps if from domestic use is that in order for it to work without glasses, there is only a certain distance you can be from it before it starts to lose the 3D effect. Most home televisions put their TVs any random distance and orientation in their house, nullifying the 3D. With a handheld, it is much easier to pick and enforce a distance from the eyes for the 3D effect.

Like with the DS, Nintendo will be forcing its developers to use some functionality(3D) along with the other functionalities(dual screen, touch screen). Some publishers might complain a bit, but it prints money, right?
