I've had BFBC2 for a while now, and I am getting extremely brutal lag all the time (framerate wise).
I have an AMD Athalon 64 X2 Dual Core @ 2.60 GHz, 9800GTX+ (512MB), and 4GB of DDR2. Windows Vista 32-Bit as well..
Im pretty sure with my card the game should be at least playable on medium settings, so im thinkin the problem is my CPU. Anyone have a fix for dual cores, or advice?
I've already edited my settings.ini, tried playing in DX11, and DX9, nothing helps even remotely. :(
But before I get a quad core processor, anyone wanna see if they can help me out?

I have a similar set-up to you, but I have AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8 GHz and a Geforce 9800 GT (1gb)
BC2 is pretty CPU hungry, so a new CPU might help.
However, I have to play on LOW settings for one reason: the in game dust/smoke.
Lots of people who have the 9800 GT get "brutal lag" whenever smoke or dust is present on the screen. I'm talking like, 5fps if the smoke is right in your face (like driving/riding in a tank)
Switching to the lowest of low settings only helps a little bit, but it's bearable at least.

I don't know if that problem carries over to the 9800 GTX+, but there's two things that might be responsible for your brutal lag.

Overall this game is still too buggy at this point. Which is a shame. So many threads on multiple forums with people having all kinds of problems...mind many of these posters are experts and are running their rigs at max efficiency. :(

I recommend Western Digital Caviar Black. Runs very cool and mostly silent. Pretty affordable, as well. Hint: Get a 1TB. You won't regret it.

Thinking about getting a computer that can run EP3 maxed is silly... There's no way you can predict what hardware you'll need in 5 years.
